One Jam-Packed Day!

Today was so fun. First, we went to Bear World this morning. What's that you ask? Bear World is a zoo-like animal park where you drive your car on the little path and see all kinds of animals up close. You usually have to pay to get in but Bryce had to go for a class field trip so we got in free :) We saw a lot of the same animals we saw at Yellowstone last week but here we got closer and even got to feed them! As the name suggests, we saw also quite a few bears (and baby cubs!). Bryce was one excited boy. We also saw brand new baby deer that were born just this morning. It was way awesome.

When we got back, Bryce and I played in the Students vs. Alumni Softball game that the college put on for Spirit Week. It was really fun and the students squeaked by winning 8-7 (yeah!).

Then we rested at home for a while and went to a Beatles Concert! No, not the real Beatles, but a tribute band. They were awesome! Apparently they're pretty famous and tour all over the world. They sounded just like the real thing and stayed in character the whole time! The football stadium was completely packed with people singing and dancing around to some good old music. We had an absolute blast. To finish the night, there was a beautiful fireworks display over the football stadium.

We are pooped but we sure had a fun day!

Family Resemblance

This was fun! This picture is of me and my mom at roughly the same age (3-ish). That means these pictures were taken about 42 years apart! Crazy! I stole the picture of my mom from my cousin Anne Marie's blog (thanks). I think we look a lot alike at that age (well, at least the cheeks). I love making these comparisons. It reminds me that I have more of my mom in me than I think. I also look quite a bit like my dad. That's where the wavy dark hair comes from but my Dad at this age looks almost exactly like Kennedy. Too bad I didn't get his good Italian skin, I'd be so tan!

Yellowstone National Park

Yesterday, we decided to go on an adventure. We drove a little over an hour north and spent the day playing in West Yellowstone. I had never been there, and I'll admit that I wasn't too stoked to get up early on a Saturday and go look at trees all day. Bryce had been there many times and was really excited to go so I complied. All I can say is it was AMAZING. Everything was so gorgeous! The sheer beauty of the park blew me away. Everything was so pristine and preserved. We saw alot of animals and gysers everywhere. There were also some crazy big waterfalls. There was still quite a bit of snow up there which was cool because we got to see all the green grass and all the snow in the mountains... so pretty. We saw ALOT of Bison and got super close to a few! Bryce was yelling at me because he thought I was too close. It was really interesting to see all the natural hot-spots of bubling mud and water. There was steam coming off of the hot spots that didn't exactly smell good, but sure looked cool. But the highlight of the day was probably seeing Old Faithful. I had no idea how cool it would be. We waited for about 20 minutes and thent it errupted! It was rad. The weather was kind of rainy all day but we still had a blast hanging out in nature!

No Bueno!!!

Yesterday, I went with my little fourth-graders to their "Mountain-Man Rendezvous." It was actually pretty cool. All the fourth graders in the district came to one school and learned all about the mountain men that settled Idaho back in the day. They had a fur trapper-guy there, they panned for gold, square danced and had a great time. I ran one f the stations and I did story-telling and playing marbles (not the most exciting, but it was fun). It was a warm day and I was so happy the sun was out. It felt so nice. That is, until I came home and found this:

I'M A LOBSTER!!! Ouch!! I never even felt it! I got completely burned everywhere that was exposed; both arm, ears, and neck. I was so uncomfortable for the rest of the day. It hurt to take a shower. I haven't been this sunburned in a LONG time because I'm usually pretty good about sunscreen (gotta watch those moles and beauty marks) but this is just bad. The tan line (or burn line) is just hilarious

PS after yesterday's heat wave, it's raining today... go figure.

Back in the Swing of Things

That last few semesters I've played in BYUI's competitive soccer program. I didn't think I was going to have time this semester, but after a few weeks of class, I came to the conclusion that I NEEDED to play something in order to maintain my sanity. Although I LOVE soccer, I felt like I would rather try the softball program this summer. Well, I went to practice last week and the coach asked me what position I played. I told her that I could do anything but pitch. She said, "So you can catch?" I said yes. That was my first mistake. Apparently no one else on the team felt comfortable catching. So we had our first 2 games last and I played catcher for both. Needless to say I am feeling quite immobile today. Minus the pain, I really had a great time last night. The girls are so nice and really fun to play with. We won the first game but lost the second, but for only having one practice as a team I think we did great. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season!!!

And in stark contrast to my last post, yesterday it got in the high seventies. It was sooo nice... until I had to but all that catcher's gear on. :(

Happy Mother's Day

As the baby of the family, I am a self-proclaimed Mama's girl. I have been so attached to my Mother for my entire life and am so thankful for everything she has ever done for me. She is truly an amazing, selfless woman who tells me that I'm the best "surprise" she ever got. She hasn't had the easiest life, but you could never tell by her sweet disposition. I Love her to death and can't wait to see her at my graduation in July. Love you Mom!!!

I also want to give a shout out to the world's best Mother-in-Law, Christy. She is so wonderful and she cracks me up all the time. She is an awesome mother and just so much fun to be around. We love you Christy!
