Graduation!!!

Sorry this is kind of late, but it's been a crazy week!!!

So this is how lat weekend went:
---> The family came in on Thursday evening and made the drive from SLC all in one piece and without killing each other (that's a plus). They had just enough time to settle in their hotel and then we were off for dinner at Big Judd's (this is an awesome burger place in the middle of nowhere where they serve a 1 LB burger) We had a great time visiting and eating and my family got a good feel for what Idaho has to offer :). My nephew, Mitch actually finished the 1 LB Burger.... WOW!!!and We couldn't help but laugh when Kennedy ordered a salad and asked if they had any vinegerette... needless to say the waitress was a little confused.

----> On Friday morning, Bryce had class so I went and picked everyone up and took them out to the country to see Mesa Falls in Targhee National Forrest. It is a huge water fall in the middle of the forrest and it's absolutely gorgeous. My family loved it! We took lots of pictures and just enjoyed the surroundings. Afterwards, we headed back to Rexburg and got lunch. Then we went on a tour of campus before going back and getting cleaned up for graduation.

----> Then it was time for the ceremony! My Mom, Dad, and Kennedy, were in the auditorium to hear the comemncemnt speaker (Julie B. Beck) and the rest of the family was watching it on braodcast (I only had 3 tickets). After Sister Beck spoke, we made our way over to the Taylor Chapel (where everyone else was waiting) for Convocation. So heard my name announced and got to see me walk across the stage and get my empty diploma holder from Brother Eyring (Henry J., Henry B's Son). Then we took some pictures and went back to the apartment for some pizza.




I really had a great time with my family and was so happy to have them there to see me complete this phase of my life. It made me realize just how much I really do love them. It was a great weekend, one not to be forgotten.

The only drawbacks from the weekend were 1) the names of about 75% of the people in my major (El Ed) were missing from the program (including mine) and 2) Sister Beck gave a great talk...if she had been talking to an EFY group. She spoke about the For Strength of Youth pamphlet. Huh? I thought there would be a little bit more about the education we gained while at BYU-I and going out in the world and making a difference, but not so much... it was just kinda weird.

----> On Saturday, we packed up and drove down to CA and I went back to work at the Day Camp on Tuesday. It is soooo great to be back! I love those kids, and the people I work with. So now, we're chillin in CA for the next month until I start My student teaching... I'm so excited!!!

Last Softball Game...

Last Friday, I had My last Softball game. Usually I get kinda sad about a season ending, but this one was painful. Don't get me wrong, I had a LOT of fun and the girls I met were awesome, but we just couldn't get it together as a team. I never realized just how much a coach influences a team until I was on a team with a coach who didn't care about winning. She was an adorable girl, but she was just out there to have fun. That kills me!!! Most of you know that I am a really competitive person and I play to win!!! So when I had to answer to a coach whose philosophy was to "have fun" I got really frustrated! I played catcher for the entire season (my legs of steel are back!) and got to know the pitcher really well. She, like me, hates to lose. I was excited when she told me that she was going to coach next season and that she would be sure to get me on her team. Hooray! Something to look forward to!


I don't know what I'm all excited about...we got KILLED!


Oh yeah, and this crew will be invading Idaho in 3 days... I can't wait!

4th of July and Camping....

So.. This year marked the FIRST 4th of July EVER that I was not in CA. It was also the first time in 4 years I didn't go to the Howard's BBQ :( I missed it, but still managed to have some fun up here in Idaho. On the 4th, we headed over to the Rexburg Parade. This marked my first small town parade and it was really a lot of fun! All the little kids were really cute and we got a ton of candy thrown at us (some of which we had to fight for). We had a lot of fun making our own parade commentary with Steph and George and then we went and BBQed hamburgers with them for lunch... thanks guys!

When Bryce and I got home, we started packing up to go camping with some couples from the ward. I wasn't super excited to go just because I had a lot of school work to do, but I had fun. We drove about an hour to the base of the Teton Mountains (which is actually Wyoming) and found our group nestled in the trees next to a raging river. It was beautiful! We hung out, made tin-foil dinners (delicious), and then drove into town (Driggs) to watch fire works.

We had heard that this Drive-in theater, "The Spud" was having a fireworks display. so we drove over there and at first it looked like we were going to have to pay to get in. Come to find out, it was completely free and they were showing "Walle" afterwards, also free of charge! What a deal! We eneded up not staying for the movie, but the fireworks were sweet.

The next morning, Bryce talked me into going on this hike to "Table Rock Mountain" which is way up near the Tetons. I figured I'd be alright (bum ankle and all) until about 45 minutes into the hike, my friend Karen, who was with us, said that it was a 5 HOUR hike to the top....and then you have to come down. I would never have come if I had known that! Anyways, we're marching along the trail and the we get to a river. We could see where the trail picked up on the other side, but this river was seriously RAGING. We looked all over for a place to cross.....nothing. So the boys decided to try and build a bridge. However, their idea of a bridge was three unstable logs.

This is what they wanted us to do...



NO WAY was I getting on that thing! One couple made it across, but Hannah and I weren't budging! Our husbands complied and turned around with us while the other couple treked on... Later, we ran into a park ranger who told us you couldn't ever get to Table Rock because there was still a bunch of snow... so we didn't feel so bad about not crossing the river. :)

P.S. Today is Melissa's Birthday and wanted to give her a shout out because she is so wonderful and I love her lots! It's also Michelle's B-day (they're twins) and I absolutely adore her too! Happy birthday ladies! Hope you two had a great day!

I was tagged by Cody! I wanted to preface this by saying that I recently found my friend Cody after not seeing her for over 9 years! Cody is more than a friend though, she served her mission in Long Beach and actually taught me (and Kennedy) the missionary discussions! She helped bring the church into my life and I am so grateful for that! I'm so glad to have found her again!
